7 Direct Benefits of Marketing Your Biz with Video

The more I see how video marketing is working for my clients and friends alike, the more I feel that I have to share this with you once again. Video marketing is an incredible opportunity for really boosting sales of your products and services.

Portable inexpensive iphone/android usability labEverywhere you look online, there is a Tweet, article, YouTube video or blog post about marketing your business using video. The fact is that using video to market your business can bring incredible results.

I’ve created a series of (mainly) WordPress tips and posted them on Youtube. Many have been viewed way more times than I ever expected them to be. This has lead to more exposure on the net, but not only that, I’ve gotten clients directly from YouTube–clients who had never been to my WordPress site!

But do the benefits outweigh the effort it takes to put your video online? One word will sum this up: Yes! As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I have made money as a direct result of creating videos and uploading them to YouTube.

7 Direct Benefits of Marketing Your Biz with Video

  •  Personal Connection

This is so important for internet businesses–the personal connection with your market is a huge selling factor. With video your audience can really get to know you, fulfilling the “know, like, and trust” factor that is so important online. They can see (or hear if you aren’t creating a talking head video) that you are a real, live person and they start to build an ongoing relationship with you. They will feel that they actually know you.

  • Social proof

There’s an old proverb: “Believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see” and this is especially true on the internet. It’s easy to be a fake and/or a fraud online. People are (and rightly so) skeptical about claims they read online. But video puts a face to your words and makes you more believable and trustworthy.

  •  Traffic to your Site

  1. YouTube has more than 1 billion users
  2. Every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views
  3. The number of hours people are watching on YouTube each month is up 50% year over year
  4. 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute
  5. 60% of a creator’s views comes from outside their home country
  6. YouTube is localized in 75 countries and available in 61 languages
  7. Half of YouTube views are on mobile devices
  8. Mobile revenue on YouTube is up over 100% y/y

That’s a lot of potential traffic you’re missing out on if you’re not marketing yourself with video. It’s free and easy to add your video to the growing number of video submission sites online.

  • Emotional Influence

You can create videos that will emotionally influence your market. Imagine the power of combining audio with powerful video cues to create a message. They are much more compelling than what you can create with just text alone.

  • Portability (and viral-ability)

Even more so than articles and ebooks — video is portable. Smartphones, iPads, laptops, and all kinds of other devices allow video to be seen on the go. You can allow people to easily download your videos so they can be viewed over and over again.

  • Demonstrations

Reviews, case studies and examples are great ways to sell products and services. This is why infomercials make millions of dollars – they use these very tactics to sell their products. But there’s no need to be as annoying as the Sham-Wow guy to make money with video; you just need to create videos that show and tell your potential customers why you and/or your product will be helpful to them.

  •  Engagement

There are many reports online to show that video boosts response and conversion rates. When someone is watching a video, you have their full attention. Unlike with the written word, they’re not likely skip ahead or gloss over important information. Most people will watch a video from beginning to end, allowing you to clearly convey your message AND a call to action that engages your audience.

Overall, video is an effective marketing strategy that is only growing in popularity. Since video is here to stay, isn’t it time to check out the options and see how quick and easy video marketing can be?

Plugin Alert for WordPress Users

Would having a link on your navigation bar that takes visitors to another site amount to the ‘be-all and end-all’ for you?

Page Links To WordPress Plugin

Would it be the final ingredient that makes your site extra zingy?

“Huh?” you say.

  • Well, what if you had a quick way to send visitors to your smokin hot YouTube channel directly from your site?
  • Or what if you could resurrect that old sales page (that’s not connected in any way to your current site) by having a direct link to it from your current site?
  • Or if you could send people to your book on Amazon with just a single click?

Here’s a ridiculously simple plugin to do just that!

Changing Your YouTube Video Thumbnail

I created a very popular video a couple of years ago on how to change your video thumbnail.

Recently I’ve been getting questions about how to change a YouTube video thumbnail in the new, updated YouTube.  I did a little research in the YouTube help files to see what’s changed,  but the process appears to be the same as always.

Here is my original video over at YouTube, or watch it below. If you know of any updated steps to changing your YouTube video thumbnail, please leave a comment and a link. I think everyone would appreciate it.

Here’s A Quick Way To Add Media To A Blog Post

Insights PluginMy oldie but goodie Youtube video with a very cool plugin suggestion.

I’ve been using this plugin for over 3 years and it has never failed to be useful. It’s one of the simplest plugins to use and once you get your feet wet with it, you’ll find a ton of uses for it.

What are some of the best uses for this plugin?

  • quickly add your YouTube videos to build traffic (instead of sending people to YouTube, send them to your site to view it)
  • interlink to articles, posts, or pages within your own site (huge SEO purpose!)
  • add news articles (back up your information with up to the minute information)
  • add Wikipedia articles (excellent as a reference)
  • search and add Google content (easily find relevant information on Google)
  • recommend a book (your own?)
  • add an image or two (“decorate” your posts to create interest)
