As the year winds down, I am looking back at what I’ve achieved in 2009, a year that saw the worst recession since the depression of the 1930s. What is the most important thing that this business and year have taught me?
- It has taught me that perseverance pays off, and if I truly want to do something, I will hang in there and do it.
- There is no easy road to success, and there is no get rich quick scheme that works (unless you are willing to sell something that steals people’s money and dreams–and even then, these systems rarely work for long–the universe won’t let them).
- Success is a daily combination of one foot in front of the other, and a firm belief in yourself and what you have to offer the world. Business takes time to build. Rarely are there overnight successes.
For 99% of the people who appear to be an overnight success, there are a lot of hard earned years behind them. Know that and believe it. - My integrity is always my most important value. Honesty and doing what I say I will do is utmost on my list. I’ve looked around a lot in the past year to find people I can align myself with–those who I most want to be like because the know, like, and trust factor can be determined by your friends online–just like in the offline world. Weeding out those who are not in alignment has been an important step.
- I’ve found that I’ve had to be extremely cautious about who I give my money to. I’ve researched and found valuable tools and went down that path until it no longer had as much value. I’ve outgrown systems and that’s a good thing. It shows that I have moved ahead. It is not personal–it is realistic.
So as this New Year is about to start, I want to offer some encouragement to those who may need it. You WILL find your people–although often they will find you, and in the most curious ways. That is the fun part of online business. Twists and turns.
Don’t be afraid to be you. Get out there with your product or service. If it can truly help another, you will be ok.
Happy New Year everyone! Best wishes for the New Year. Here’s to our success!
